Sandra Shimon is a founding member of Structured Investment Management (SIM), an investment management firm focused on the design, engineering and management of structured products for individual and institutional investors. The firm’s maiden product, which is in the final stages of preparation for launch, is a unique principal-protected and return-guaranteed mutual fund, for which domestic and international patents have been filed.
Prior to joining SIM, Ms. Shimon was Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Analysis at Hard Rock Cafe International, which she joined to shepherd its sale from its Londonbased parent. She served as internal investment banker, first to the seller of Hard Rock and later to the acquirer.
Before Ms. Shimon joined Hard Rock, she was a Managing Director at Malek Partners, where she focused on strategic initiatives and investment product marketing. Malek Partners facilitates capital raising for investment management firms through the marketing of investment product to leading financial institutions worldwide. The firm also provides strategic guidance and transactional support to global financial institutions and to investment management firms and product architects. Ms. Shimon connected with Malek Partners through her work at the World Bank as a specialist in private and financial sector development.
At the World Bank, Ms. Shimon championed product development and marketing strategy toward the creation of innovative investment vehicles to facilitate public-private partnerships in large-scale infrastructure projects in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Ms. Shimon also has more than seven years of experience providing leveraged finance and merger and acquisition advisory services to both top-tier strategic and financial acquirers and providing accounting and auditing advisory services to multi-national corporations.
Ms. Shimon currently lives in Orlando, Florida, where she enjoys sailing, entertaining guests, and playing with her two pugs. Ms. Shimon travels extensively and provides ad hoc consulting services. She enjoys playing the piano, spending time with family, studying languages, sewing, interior design, tennis, and pilates. Sandra is a member of the Harvard Business School Club of South Florida and the Harvard Business School Social Enterprise Club.
Ms. Shimon graduated summa cum laude from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and earned an M.B.A from the Harvard Business School.
